In June 2023 John Belton, hybrid athlete and coach, took on the challenge of the Jungle Ultra. He set himself an exacting race strategy and was a class act from start to finish. His diligence and discipline paid off over the course of the five days and he got stronger and stronger as the race continued. He deployed the analogy of start slow but finish strong, and ultimately finished the race in 2nd position.

This video explains why he signed up, how his experience was and advice on how to succeed.

“The Jungle Ultra, a gruelling 5-day stage race, demands that you dig deep into your life experiences to conquer the mental, physical, and emotional obstacles that are deliberately placed in your path. This is not a race for the weak-willed, but for those who crave the rawest form of living. It’s an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime, a memory that you’ll look back on with a sense of pride and a smile, knowing that you were one of the select few who had the privilege of taking part in it. The Jungle Ultra is a true test of character, and those who complete it emerge stronger, more resilient, and with a newfound appreciation for the power of the human spirit.” John Belton, Jungle Ultra 2nd Place, 2023.
