Unseasonably warm, clear conditions delivered spectacular views across the Knoydart peninsula and out towards the isle of Skye as runners completed the 2026 Highland Ultra.

From the beach start in remote Inverie, the route traced the peninsula’s lone coastal road before turning onto rugged trails, beaches, river crossings, and long, grinding climbs that tested every runner. Stage Two brought the promised sense of isolation beyond Kinlochhourn, with dramatic mountain passes and steep descents back to camp, while the final day returned to the peninsula and into the rocky heart of Knoydart beneath Ladhar Bheinn, before a memorable finish back into Inverie with the sea loch in all it’s sunny splendour.
