Stage Two delivered the chaos and beauty that makes the Jungle Ultra legendary. After a gentle start downhill on the road and through welcoming villages, runners were thrown into the heart of the Jungle, where the heat smothered, the mud swallowed, and the terrain punished.

Once past the villages, the jungle offered no mercy. Thorn covered branches tore at clothing, insects bit at every inch of exposed skin, and footing was unreliable at best. Runners reported slipping every few minutes, and the river crossings were relentless, some waist-deep, all soul-draining.

Despite the brutality, many runners rose to the occasion with fierce determination.

2. Nick Sunderland – 4:05:00
3. Lewis Woodcock – 4:19:00

The Women’s Race Podium was as follows:

1. Morgane Rivière – 4:31:00
2. Ioana Barbu – 4:51:00
3. Tarryn Gordon-Bennett – 4:59:00

David Kilgore, Frank Chu and Lizzie Renn didn’t start the race today due to minor injuries sustained on Stage One. They gave it their all, but the Jungle is absolutely brutal for even the most veteran runners. Sunny Tsang unfortunately DNF’d in the latter stage of the route. She put in a determined performance on rough ground, but ultimately thought stopping would be safer for her. A commendable decision after an incredibly tough stage.
